Christmas felt like a really long day, not the kind that drags on but the kind that gives you time to do so many different things!
My husband did not grow up in the U.S., so he hasn't experienced the commercial side of Christmas. He hasn't had the tree, the decorations, the songs, etc. so he wanted to do all of these things and more. Some of the things he wanted to do he must have seen from the movies or heard from somewhere, I've never done them myself either so it's been interesting for me too. It was the same for Halloween and I think it's the most adorable thing because he gets excited about it like a child.
So we had our little real Christmas tree decorated and lit up, we watched a Christmas movie, we sang along to Christmas songs he didn't know (he chose several he wanted to learn), we had a "Christmas dinner" on Christmas Eve (I convinced him to eat out instead of cooking it ourselves--he really wanted ham or prime rib roast but for just us two? To the restaurant we go!), we read the story of Jesus' birth from the Bible, and we baked and decorated cookies.
And after all of that we still had time to ourselves so he played games on his new PS3 and I took a nap and sewed.
Aren't these burp cloths so cute? I followed this tutorial and they were very easy to make. I would recommend making a set of these for an expectant mother as a baby shower gift!
I hope your last weekend of 2010 was warm & cozy... ready for 2011 yet?
