KP Farmers' Market

Every Thursday Kaiser Permanente holds a small farmers' market. By small I mean something like 8 stalls. :D

berry yummy
A berry trio! The strawberries are huge and so juicy and sweet. <3

Mexican goodies
I've never had any Mexican sweets before so I had to try some. Empanadas I've had, next time I'll get the pumpkin. I also got mini-cuernito which looks like little croissant type rolls covered in cinnamon sugar and conchitas which looks like a roll with some type of frosting, not very sweet at all.

I hope they have eggs again next time! They were there last week but not this week. I want to try some fresh ones.

freezer makeover

Did you know that black contact paper is very difficult to find in stores? It seems they only sell it online so I ordered a very large roll. This is one reason why:

By tonight, it will be sleek and sexy in black.

by hand.

Saw this at yum yum ramblings.

1) your name/blog name.
2) right-handed, left-handed, or ambidextrous?
3) favorite letters to write.
4) least favorite letters to write.
5) write "The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog."
6) write the following words in capital letters: CRAB, HUMOR, KALEIDOSCOPE, PAJAMAS, GAZILLION.
7) write your favorite song lyric. (I wrote a quote I like.)
8) any special note or picture.

I used to have the best handwriting when I was younger. I was known for it and kids used to ask me to forge bus notes in cursive so it looked like their parents wrote it. I won the Hancock contest where we tried to copy his signature and the person with the closest attempt won a poster of the Declaration of Independence. I didn't know left handed people were known to have bad handwriting until people told me I was "pretty good for a leftie."

But this skill has faded. I no longer have uniform letters, I write faster than slower so it isn't as pretty, and I mix cursive and print. My writing is still small. (I hated writing on wide rule paper, I always went for college ruled even in elementary school.)

I like to write things by hand though. Lists, letters, cards, notes are not the same when typed. It's just a good feeling to read real writing that's done by hand.

short weekend getaway

I have many pictures, too many to share in one post, so I want to direct you to my flickr. I want to share my favorites here.

who lives...
penny bar
The way to Pismo Beach was the way Tare takes to go to work so we stopped by the penny bar he sometimes eats at with his coworkers. Everything, including the floor and pool table, is covered in pennies.

cow crossing
excuse me lady cow! The highway we took was the most isolated, curvy, windy, lumpy, up and down road I've ever been on.

Splash Cafe
Lunch at Splash Cafe where they have the best clam chowder!

yogurt goodness!
1st time having some frozen yogurt with all those toppings you choose yourself. It was pretty tasty.

happy weekend

backyard mountains
{seen early morning from my backyard; the mountains have never been this clear}

I felt very content with myself today. Tried out a new hairstyle and had some more photo fun. :D

Hope you have a delightful weekend! I'm off to Pismo Beach this weekend. I wish it was warmer than 65 but the ocean is beautiful in any weather so it will be great, I know it.

packages!

Yesterday I received the packages I've been waiting for! The first is a set of masking tapes from Japan.

Is that package not the cutest thing ever? Look at the stamps! Why don't we have stamps like that here in the US? People in Asian countries have the cutest English handwriting too, so loopy and uniform.

I also received my tripod as well as new study bible and dust blower. But the tripod was put to good use right away! Although I wish there was some manual with it, I was a little confused what tightens what and what unlocks what, etc. I still don't think I understand how it works to its full extent. I got a Dolica Proline tripod.
Tare and I spent a good hour dancing in the dark once we got it set up. :D We have some where Tare looks like a ghost but he was not properly dressed so I cannot share. It's pretty funny looking though, you're all missing out.

Lack of creativity right there. But I had to do the cliche heart and name writing because I'm a noob. I still don't know if my settings were completely correct. Does exposure matter if you're in the dark? Should it be high so the light shows up better?

It was fun. I need to find a fountain or waterfall now.

moo creamery

classic

Tare and I went out to moo creamery for dinner. It's a burger and ice cream place that seems to be popular since Bakersfield is pretty void of cool eateries. It appears to be a spin-off restaurant from MILK in LA where the couple who started moo used to work. The woman is a Bako native which seems to further prove the "web of Bakersfield" theory. (Those who grew up in Bakersfield may leave but majority return and those who move here tend to stay here for a long, long time.)

Overall, I enjoyed the food and ice cream. The ice cream is delicious, I wish I could just try out every single flavor. Next time I will try the bacon love! We brought home some cinnamon stick ice cream which is quite tasty.
However, the service was not very good. It seemed like everyone around us was getting their water filled and asked if they need anything but we were completely left alone with empty water cups and a long wait before our dessert got to us. It took forever to get a box and our ice cream to go too. It was somewhat busy but the servers walked by us multiple times so I'm surprised we were so completely left alone. Tare came here for lunch the day before and the group was well taken care of so maybe it depends on who's there? I was not very happy about waiting around and being forgotten by two separate servers. Next time I'll probably just get it to go.

You are a Delight

1.  The first thing I do in the morning is ask what time it is and what my husband wants for breakfast.

2.  Every night before bed I listen to Tare read me Proverbs chapter of the day.

3.  My favorite thing to do when I'm having a bad day is eat something sweet like an ice cream cone from McDonalds!

4.  Something that makes me cringe is the sound of a utensil scratching a bowl/plate. Ugh, it gives me the shivers just thinking about it.

5.  Social situations make me anxious. I just get through it and feel drained afterwards.

6.  I like to collect pandas. They can be on anything: shirts, panties, dolls, shoes, bags, etc. But I won't get just any panda item, it has to be cute enough for me.

7.  Weekends are for relaxing, going out on dates, watching One Night Two Days and WGM. We're going to volunteer tomorrow! How fun!
