Polished and Pretty

I enjoy painting my toenails because they make my toes look much cuter in open-toed shoes/sandals in the summer.

But, I really dislike manicures! I'm not into getting my nails done on a regular basis (my money goes elsewhere...) and I don't enjoy doing it myself because it's a hassle to change it when there's chipping and nail growth (my nails grow super fast).

Still... I saw a picture of someone's nails online that really caught my eye. Simple yet cute and colorful = exactly what I like. I tried it out today while doing my toes!

Love it! This is my type of manicure!

fill in the blank Friday

my home.

1.  The last thing I do before going to sleep is pray with Tare.

2.  When I can't sleep I just keep trying anyway. Eventually it'll work.

3.  The first thing I do when I wake up is check my temperature and check the time.

4.  When I'm tired I am clearly looking and acting tired. I suddenly get dark circles under my eyes down my cheeks and I can't focus. I usually head right in for a nap.

5.  My dream bedroom would be pretty much like the one I have now except maybe with a canopy? Or I really like having the bed at an angle and not right up against a wall, kinda in the corner. I love the colors in my bedroom now (white, gray, blue) but I could really go for just all white too.

6.  If I could wake up anywhere tomorrow morning it would be in Colorado at my parent's house so my mom can make me food. :D

7.  The longest sleep I've ever had was my high school days when I used to sleep like 13 hrs at a time on the weekends. But it was making up for IB, that's like only a couple hours of sleep a night! I bet that's why I'm short.

8.  I sleep on my right side although I'm trying to even it out with my left side. My face is seriously slimmer on the right because I've slept on it so much.

9.  When I sleep, I like to wear a shirt.

10.  My bedtime is usually anywhere from 9:30pm to 11:30pm.

My Day

These days I wake up early in the morning and the first thing I do is take Aji out on a walk. The weather is beautiful in the early morning, around 6:30am, and the skies are breathtaking.

Anyone know what these are? We bought a bunch of them to plant in the front and they're so pretty! I love how they're not typical petal flowers and they're so colorful.

What I do while I'm home alone these days... it's a secret for now.

When Tare comes home, I have dinner ready and we enjoy either some tv shows or a book or doing silly things to our dog.

Too Cool
LOL this was so hilarious. Too cool for words.

Life is so good! I love my little family. ♥

Hot Summer Days

If you're Korean, you might know about the dilemma between jajangmyun (Noodles with black bean sauce) and jjambbong (Spicy Seafood Noodle Soup). You want both but you can only order one unless they have the half-half special that the particular restaurant.... OR if you're at home!

Noodles with Black Bean Sauce

Spicy Seafood Noodle Soup

This was my first attempt at making these at home from scratch. All in all, a success but not completely to my liking. I've taken notes to improve for next time. :)

By the end of dinner last night, I was really hot! (you know, from slaving away at the stove and being myself. ha!) Had to cool myself down with some natural watermelon. By natural, I mean really natural with 10 millions seeds. It was a baby watermelon they had just picked the day we bought it so it's extra juicy but extra seedy too. Still tastes amazing!

Personally, I'm not a real fan of chocolate. I don't crave it or feel very tempted when it's around. But when I do want chocolate, it's Korean or Japanese chocolate. It blows Hershey's out of the water, no comparison! Picked up some Japanese chocolate yesterday from a grocery trip to LA and I love the fancy packaging! I think it very much reflects the richer, creamier, cleaner flavor of Asian chocolate.

It's quiet here

So much as been going on my side of reality... all I can say is that God is good all the time. I look forward to sharing all of it here at the right time.

I'll be back next week when I have my new pretty in my hands. My sweet husband bought me the pancake lens I wanted for my Blue! I can't wait!

carrot munch

I'm feeling a little uninspired these days. All I have is this video, probably from the beginning of this year. I've only known my dog so I don't know if this is something she does or all dogs do. Enlighten me.

fill in the blank Friday

1.  My favorite thing about this week has been reading a book a day. The lack of television really makes you find other ways to entertain yourself.

2.  The weather this week has been very hot. I haven't been outside much but my house gets up to 83 when I leave it w/o AC so... it's hot.

3.  The last (interesting) item I received in the mail was my new workout DVD. I'm excited to get started on it today!

4.  The last movie I saw was Hot Tub Time Machine? Or was it Toy Story 3? The former was regretful and the latter was wonderful.

5.  If I could be doing anything I felt like today I would drive an hour to go to Whole Foods and a big Trader Joes for some wholesome yummies then watch a movie. ...Actually this is my plan for the day.

6.  As a teenager I was a very good daughter. If I have a daughter someday, I hope she's like me when she's a teenager. She would be very easy to handle. I had nothing to be really unhappy about: family was always great, school was good, friends were cool, church was fun, etc.

7.  I wish I could trade lives for the day with a Korean pop star. I used to want to be one you know and I even auditioned.

Creativity Boot Camp: Day 11

Back to CBC after some time off...

as in stillness.

It was hard to portray today's word prompt but after walking around the house a few times I thought of my clock's pendulum which hasn't been swinging for a while now. It just needs a push once in a while. And for me, it seems like time is still as I'm waiting for it to pass. It's all a trick of the mind, when one has nothing to wait for time seems to fly by...

How would you portray "hush"?

Weekend Art Project

For the longest time our living room has been looking very empty. The ceilings are very high and the wall space is so large. We've been looking for an art piece or something to hang above our TV but everything was either just not it or too expensive.

But look what I found! TUTORIAL. It's like it was meant for us, our living room, our house! We headed to Michaels right away with 15% off total purchase in hand and gathered all of our supplies for this project for about $50. Let me repeat that. Fifty dollars for a 32x48" stretched canvas, paintbrushes, 2 tubes of red paint, and 1 tube of gray paint. (We bought a lot of extra paint but that's all we used with some left over!) The hardest part was finding 1/4" masking/painters tape, no one carries it! We almost decided to go with the 3/4" we found but I had some Japanese washi tape that was 1/4" and it worked out perfectly. No bleeds and it came off easy. Now, I didn't want to make this some sort of creativity project because this is my first time painting in a long time, so I copied the project exactly. The lines are a bit skewed because of size difference and the colors are a little different but we made it so it would look exactly the same as the original project that was shared. We loved the original, so why should we come up with our own?

This project only took about an hour to tape the lines and paint and couple hours to dry and remove the tape. Simple and beautiful, my two favorite things together.

We love seeing it up on our wall and I find myself just staring at it sometimes because it's nice to look at. :)

If you have a huge space on your wall, I highly recommend painting something on a large canvas yourself! Keep it simple with some lines and only a few colors and it'll probably look great and professional but cheap and fun. (I can't wait to paint some more stuff!)

Seattle - the Market

Our hotel was a few blocks from Pike Place Market. We spent most of our trip there because we didn't want to get a rental car and there was so much there to see.

pike place market
The famous sign.

fish market
fish market
The famous fish-throwing which I barely caught on camera! There were so many people there with cameras and I didn't want to push my way up front, it was crazy!

fruits & veggies stall
flowers galore
Beautiful flowers, rows and rows of them everywhere! And they were so cheap too, I wish I could have brought some home.

original starbucks
The original Starbucks.

Saffron Spice
Indian food for lunch, yum!

singing accordion grandma
A grandma with pigtails singing with an accordion
pike place market

Le Panier
Le Panier, where the coffee macarons rock my world.
I might know some people who need to go here.
Mesmerizing magician

pike place market

Seattle reminded me of San Francisco.
These were some really steep sidewalks.

maximus minimus
Maximus Minimus pig truck!

Singapore Style Dungeness Crab
7 flavor beef & seafood noodles
Dinner at Wild Ginger because I wanted whole crab and this was the only place that had it. The crab was not very meaty :(

rubber duckie
I have some steamy photos from this bath (literally, the water was so hot!) but I'll end with rubber duckie. :D

I hope I can visit Seattle again in the future~ someone needs to move out there so I can visit!

I really enjoyed our stay at Hotel 1000 in downtown Seattle. The rooms were great, the restaurant was great, service was great---I guess it's worth the price. ;)

They offered us a glass of champagne upon arrival and check-in was a breeze.

Since I already shared some cell phone pix of the room, here are some details that I loved:

hotel room
This sink was so cool. So cool that I didn't know how to use it at first. I really love the shape of the faucet!

hotel room
Do you know what's cool about the bathtub? Look closely and see the water falling from the ceiling!

breakfast in bed
I must have been really excited about eating breakfast (I was!) because this picture is so generic yet so out of focus. LOL.

So, across the way from our hotel is another tall building which I'm guessing is apartments. We look out in the morning and see this.
Window washer
Are you seeing what we saw? Look for the man in blue.
Window washer
He was washing his windows while hanging from his balcony which is on the top floor of this tall building. We said he must really want his windows to be clean because that's some dangerous stuff.

Will be back later with pictures from Pike Place Market! <3
